Human Touch Home Care FAQ
General Topics
Any company you consider should be licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, which means it conforms to state regulations designed to protect the safety of all consumers of in-home care.
Human Touch Home Care was founded in 2005 and has built its reputation by referring only the most honest, dedicated, and competent caregivers. This is important because it takes time and skill to find qualified caregivers and gain the trust of a diverse health care community. Our website includes many testimonials from thankful families who feel fortunate for the help that their loved ones have received through the HTHC registry. Their words are powerful endorsements.
To see our basic hourly rate for any shift of four or more hours or our live-in rate for the care of one individual, please visit our Rates section of our Services page. The same Hourly rate applies for shifts during the day, at night, or on the weekend. Because we are not a franchise and pay no fees to a larger corporation, we are able to provide first-rate service for an incredibly low price. HTHC-referred caregivers are paid more than many others and this gives us an advantage when seeking the best caregivers for our clients.
Our care coordinators work with clients, families, caregivers, and other professionals in the community. They are knowledgeable and have the ability to determine which caregiver's skills and personality will be a best match for each client. Being able to adapt to the changing needs of numerous clients on a daily basis requires resourcefulness, flexibility, genuine respect for others, and strong problem solving skills. Each of our HTHC staff is highly educated and well trained. The combined experience of our owner and general manager totals over 35 years.
Your insurance company can be an excellent resource. They will communicate with you and the care provider to insure that you receive the best care possible. HTHC works closely with some of the most respected long term care insurance companies in the region and our staff can assist in finding out what criteria an insurance company uses to determine whether or not a policy holder will be eligible for benefits. Since these companies work with only the best home care companies, their confidence in us is further evidence that we are derserving of your trust.

The Role of the Caregiver
Yes. All caregivers are bonded and insured. However, our multi-step proprietary screening process of all prospective caregivers is the best possible guarantee that the caregivers referred through Human Touch Home Care are honest, dedicated, and capable.
Human Touch Home Care, following state guidelines, requires:
- An initial telephone screening
- An in-depth face-to-face interview
- Competency testing
- Criminal background check
- Initial and annual TB and health screenings
- Thorough professional and personal reference checking
Caregivers referred through Human Touch Home Care
assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, incontinence
care, ambulation assistance, medication reminders, meal preparation,
light housekeeping, shopping, and errands. The individuals referred
through HTHC are very competent and many are CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) or have HHA (Home Health Aide) training. They are sensitive to the needs of those who are going
through a recovery process and are experienced in dealing with
declining physical and mental abilities. They are sensitive to the needs
of family members.
While assisting clients, caregivers use infection control
precautions. They also understand and subscribe to the
philosophy of independent living, which promotes clients' freedom
to make their own decisions. Since many of the elderly have some
cognitive impairment, caregivers are also trained in
handling difficult behaviors with patience and good humor. HTHC will report any change in a client’s condition to family
members or the client’s physician when appropriate.
The Role of the Home Care Company
HTHC has caregivers available to fill in if a caregiver is unavailable because of illness or any other reason. If notified of an emergency, we will make every effort to refer a replacement. We have an office staff member on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to cover just such emergencies. Whenever you call us, you will always talk to a member of our staff, never an answering service.
We encourage our clients and their families to discuss with us any concerns they have regarding their unique needs and preferences. Although we are dedicated to make the best match between client and caregiver, it is possible that a client may desire to change caregivers. For instance, one client may benefit from a caregiver who is quiet and unobtrusive while another may prefer one who is a good conversationalist and a strong motivator. Whatever the issue, HTHC will refer a new caregiver to you at any time, as many times as you require.
Clients often prefer a consistent schedule with a caregiver they have come to value and trust. This is a priority at Human Touch Home Care. We believe that caring human relationships optimize the quality of life for older adults as their needs increase. We are dedicated to building and nurturing those relationships. While changes cannot be avoided at times, we understand the value of consistency. In keeping with our philosophy and mission, our first priority is to establish and maintain a good rapport between client and caregiver.
