Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from families exploring in-home care.

General Topics

Any company you consider should be licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, which means it conforms to state regulations designed to protect the safety of all consumers of in-home care.

Human Touch Home Care was founded in 2005 and has built its reputation by referring only the most honest, dedicated, and competent caregivers. Our testimonials from thankful families are powerful evidence of that commitment.

See our Services & Rates page for our current hourly and live-in rates. Because we are not a franchise and pay no fees to a larger corporation, we’re able to provide first-rate service at an affordable price.

Our care coordinators work with clients, families, caregivers, and other professionals in the community, matching each caregiver’s skills and personality to a client’s needs. The combined experience of our owner and general manager totals over 35 years.

Your insurance company can be an excellent resource. We work closely with some of the most respected long-term care insurance companies in the region, and our staff can help you understand the criteria your insurer uses to determine benefit eligibility.

Yes. All caregivers are bonded and insured. Our multi-step proprietary screening process is the best possible guarantee that the caregivers referred through Human Touch Home Care are honest, dedicated, and capable.

The Role of the Caregiver

Following state guidelines, we require an initial telephone screening, an in-depth face-to-face interview, competency testing, a criminal background check, initial and annual TB and health screenings, and thorough professional and personal reference checking.

Caregivers referred through Human Touch Home Care assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, ambulation assistance, medication reminders, meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, and errands. Many are CNAs or have HHA training, and all are trained in infection control and handling difficult behaviors with patience and good humor.

The Role of the Home Care Company

We have caregivers available to fill in if your regular caregiver is unavailable. Our office staff is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to cover emergencies — and you’ll always talk to a member of our staff, never an answering service.

We encourage clients and families to discuss any concerns with us. Whatever the issue, we will refer a new caregiver to you at any time, as many times as you require.

We prioritize consistency and believe caring human relationships optimize quality of life. While changes can’t always be avoided, our first priority is establishing and maintaining a good rapport between client and caregiver.
